Guided exhibition tour and music workshop-National Museum of Australia

Event date:
27 April 2011 to 28 April 2011
Lawson Cresent
2601 Acton

The National Museum of Australia, in collaboration with Music For Everyone, invites adults with disabilities, and children with disabilities and their families, to visit the Museum for a unique holiday activity, free of charge.

Participants will enjoy a guided tour of the exhibition, NOT JUST NED: A true history of the Irish in Australia, followed by a group music workshop exploring the exhibition's theme, led by Music For Everyone's experienced staff.

Discover the surprising but true history of the Irish in Australia at this major exhibition exploring the Irish presence from 1788 to the present day.

See the armour of the four Kelly gang members, a pistol from the Burke and Wills expedition, fragments of the Eureka flag and much, much more. Enjoy a music workshop exploring themes and ideas from the exhibition, with traditional Irish music and using some of our great musical instruments.

No previous musical experience is necessary. There are morning workshops for children with disabilities aged from 7yrs and their families, and afternoon workshops for adults with disabilities: please read the activity note for each workshop carefully - download from www.mfe.org.au <http://www.mfe.org.au/>  Places are limited, so bookings are essential - download from www.mfe.org.au <http://www.mfe.org.au/>
