Date posted:
24 April 2007

The Minister for Community Services, Gavin Jennings, MLC invites expressions of interest from the public for appointment to the Victorian Disability Advisory Council (VDAC).

Under the Disability Act 2006, the Council provides advice to the Minister on government policies and strategies to increase the participation of people with a disability in our community.

The Council also works with other local and national community and government advisory groups creating opportunities for all Victorians.

Nominees must be Victorian residents and be able to consult effectively with people with a disability, analyse issues and represent a wide range of views.

Expressions of interest are welcomed from people with a disability from rural and regional areas, culturally diverse backgrounds and Indigenous people.

Appointments are for a term of three years. Members are appointed as individuals to the Council and not as representatives of specific organisations. The Council's work will be aligned to the actions of the Disability Act 2006.
