Well, Able and Mobile (WAM) is a physical activity support program for women with disabilities and/or mental health issues. WAM provides support for women with disabilities to take part in fitness activities of their choice. The long-term vision is to assist WAM Program women to access a wide range of fitness activities in the community, and as a result improve physical, mental, and social health outcomes.

The project will:

  1. Provide opportunities for individual women with disabilities to improve their skills and confidence. Provide assistance to overcome barriers to participation, such as transport costs.
  2. Provide opportunities for social inclusion/social connectedness.
  3. Develop an advocacy and support strategy for women to take part in sports and other fitness activities on an on-going basis - including community awareness raising, assistance with access planning at facilities and events, policy development.
  4. Document and evaluate the process on an on-going basis

WAM will start in February 2009.  Tell your friends - Bring a friend
