The Phosphate Mine

Wheelchair accessible tourist attraction. The whole complex in the Phosphate Mine is wheelchair friendly, with wide concrete pathways and gentle gradients. The Mine has thousands of fossil and bone fragments embedded in the rock wall, along with original pick marks from the earlier miners. History at its best! The Mine is located within the Caves Complex, with the wheelchair friendly Wellington Japanese Gardens opposite the Caves. There is a Holiday Complex adjacent and has four berth motel units, specially fitted for wheelchairs.Tour times for Phosphate Mine - non-school holiday periods 11.00am & 2.30pm Monday to Friday, 10.00am, 12noon, 2.00pm, 3.30pm Saturday & Sunday School holiday period - 10.00am, 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm, 3.30pm Daily
