Riding for the Disabled is a world-wide movement which provides horse riding for people with disabilities. People from a wide range of disability groups are catered for in RDA programs. These include people with intellectual disabilities or injury resulting from accidents, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, thalidomide, specific learning difficulties, amputees and the vision or hearing impaired.Horse riding is a unique physical exercise which can therapeutically assist people with a wide range of disabilities. It helps improve co-ordination, balance, muscle development, and fitness. It also assists in the development of personal confidence, self esteem, communication skills, leadership and trust.
