AQA - Victoria Ltd

Acronym:
AQA

AQA Victoria Ltd was established over 20 years ago by a group of people with quadriplegia who saw a significant need for improved access to information and support relevant to people who had sustained a spinal cord injury. For years now, AQA has demonstrated its ability to provide individualised services to people with spinal cord injuries. One of the keys to this operational success has been the capacity to involve people with first hand experience and knowledge of spinal cord injury. Incorporated as a Company in 1987, AQA is a non-profit organisation, a public benevolent institution and a registered charity. ServicesThe AQA Information/Peer Support Service provides information and support to people with spinal cord injury. Information Officers are available Monday to Friday for phone or email contact, a newsletter News Link is published bimonthly and website forums provide users, particularly those in Victorian country areas and Tasmania, access to networking with others. An extensive database of disability related information is maintained. Peer support for people with spinal cord injury is available and this service is provided by people who have personal experience of spinal cord injury. AQA's Attendant Care Service (AQA Qualcare) provides a critical service of in-home care and practical support and assistance for people with severe disabilities in their day to day lives. Personal and domestic care is provided to people with a disability in their own homes and local communities across Victoria. This support provides people with disabilities an opportunity to be active, independent and inclusive in society. AQA participates in programs and events that provide spinal cord injury awareness and education to the general community. AQA is also involved in issues around accessibility for people who use wheelchairs in the community.
