Special Olympics Victoria

The mission of the Special Olympics is to provide year round sports skills training, and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for all Australians with an intellectual disability.Athletes will have continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience the joy of participation. Some of the aims are to develop suitable coaching, to promote community awareness and acceptance, to assist with integration into everyday community sporting activities, and to participate at local, regional, state, national and international levels. This is one of over 35 such groups around Australia, and is supported by volunteer coaches and administrators. Regional and State games are held annually, national and international games are held every four years. Please ring for details of programs at this group. The organisation has ten regions in Victoria, including country areas.
