Independent Living Centre -ACT

The Independent Living Centre ACT (ILCACT) is a service of the Rehabilitation, Aged and Community Care Services for the ACT Health Directorate. The ILC is a leading provider of information, consultation and assessment in the area of equipment and assistive technology. Comprehensive and impartial health professional advice and assessment is offered to people who are considering equipment options that may facilitate independence, comfort and/or safety. Central to the advisory service is the centre's on-site equipment display which currently contains over 1500 items . Clients are welcome to drop-in and look around the display centre or to make an appointment for one-to-one assessment. Clients can also access the ILC by using the phone or email information service, Monday to Friday 9.00am-4.30pm.

Phone enquiries can be made to (02) 6205 1900 and email enquiries to [email protected] Additionally clients can directly access the Centre's equipment database at www.ilcaustralia.org - a new database consolidated with the ILCs for ACT, WA, SA, Qld, Vic and Tas. Equipment is not sold or hired by the Centre however staff can provide information on product availability and approximate price. Staff can also assist with obtaining equipment through the various services linked the ACT Health Directorate or HACC funding bodies as applicable. A register of second hand equipment is also maintained by the ILC. For a small fee prospective vendors can advertise items for sale in the ILC second hand register - the register is a hard copy document and not accessible electronically.

Activities: 
The ILC operates a drop-in service between 12pm-2.00pm Monday to Friday. Clients are welcome to attend outside these hours however access to a clinician is not guaranteed. For complex needs or one-on-one assessment an appointment is advised. Information Advisory Line operates Monday to Friday 9.00am-4.30pm.
