Young People in Nursing Homes Campaign Forum

The Victorian Young People in Nursing Homes Consortium invites you to a forum to hear about progress on developing alternatives to residential aged care for younger people with disabilities in Victoria.

The venue is opposite Parliament station (Lonsdale St exit). The nearest carpark is 200 metres away: Museum carpark on Nicholson St (Melways 43K6) opposite St Vincent's hospital. All day early bird parking is $10. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Background

In March 2006 the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) announced $224m over 5 years to address the issue of young people in nursing homes.

In Victoria, $60.2 million from this fund has been committed through the My Future My Choice initiative. The initial phase in now being completed, including planning for individuals under 50 in residential aged care, and implementation grants being announced. As well, new accommodation opportunities are currently being planned across Melbourne.
