ACT Debating Union

Acronym: 
ACTDU

High School and College debates are held from April to October each year. There are 3 competitions for Year 11 and 12 , Year 9 and 10 students and Year 7 and 8 students. An ACT region team is chosen to compete in the Australian School Championships and this can lead to selection for the World Championships. Training sessions are conducted for students, teachers and adjudicators. Special Interest Debates are also held, for example Crime Prevention Debates.

The ACT Debating Union is a not-for-profit organisation that organises school debating competitions in Canberra and the surrounding regions. The ACTDU is also responsible for the entry of a representative team into the annual National Schools Debating Championships. The ACT State team has been the 3rd most successful State or Territory at National Schools, having won 5 times, and finished runner up 10 times.
