Age Concern Social Support Groups
Centre-based Social Support Program provide social support for frail aged and people with a disability living in the community. The goals of these groups are to encourage independence, social interaction, respite for carers, peer support, networking and the maintenance of health and well being for it's members. The day's activities usually consist of morning tea, games, cognitive stimulation, guest speakers or entertainment, a cooked lunch and then another activity and transport home around 2pm. The programs meet in local church halls and community centres in the Albury, Lavington area and Thurgoona. The programs operate Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Age Concern's buses are available to transport participants to and from the venues. Age Concern's staff and volunteers hope you enjoy the hospitality, social interaction and friendships you make during your visits to the Centre-based Social Support Programs. The club is an autonomous, self sufficient body, under the guidance of a coordinator, who is assisted by a team of volunteers.
