AGOSCI

Acronym:
AGOSCI

AGOSCI is a national interest group focusing on complex communication needs (CCN).CCN is when a person cannot speak, or when the speech they have is very difficult to understand. This person then relies on nonverbal means of communication to get their message across. These nonverbal methods come under the title 'Augmentative and Alternative Communication' (AAC). These methods can take a wide range of forms - such as gestures, like waving, pointing, or head movements, or could involve technology, such as customised software on a computer that predicts what the user is most likely to type out next. Membership includes the twice yearly newsletter. There is a branch and a study group in each state. There is a national bi-annual conference.
