Atherton Shire Council Library


This is a public lending library providing resources to cater for the information and recreational reading needs of the people in this area.There is a good range of books, magazines, cassettes, videos, DVDs and compact discs. Services include reference enquiries and a Readers Advisor. If items required are not on the shelves, they may be reserved. Items not on reserve may be renewed for a further four weeks. Some materials not held in Atherton library may be requested from other libraries. A coin operated photocopier is available for library users. A reference section for quiet study is available. Books in the reference section cannot be borrowed. Community language books, and audio books for people with a print handicap are changed on a regular basis with the State Library (Public Libraries Services) in Brisbane. Community language learning kits and adult literacy kits are also available from Brisbane. The Cairns Post, The Courier Mail, and the local papers are available for use in the library (only current 2 months issues are kept).
