Avro Community Health Centre
The Avro Community Health Centre is a free service run by the Psychiatric Services Branch of the Health Department of WA. The Centre offers treatment for nervous, emotional and psychiatric problems and rehabilitation activities. Staff include psychiatrists, a clinical psychologist, social workers, occupational therapists and assistants, community care nurses, a pharmacist and clerical staff. You may be referred to the Clinic by your GP or a hospital , a friend or someone from another agency may suggest you attend, or you may refer yourself. A referral from a doctor is needed for Occupational Therapy.An Occupational Therapist provides group and individual programs aimed at improving skills in self-care, community independence, leisure, work and purposeful activity, self-esteem, relaxation, assertion and stress management. If appropriate, the occupational therapist may refer you to other community agencies for programs more suited to your needs.
