The Down Syndrome Association of Tasmania was formed in 1984 by parents who saw value in sharing friendship and has regular social gatherings, invites professionals to speak at meetings, produces an informative newsletter, has links with and exchanges information with interstate and overseas parent and professional associations, provides speakers to groups wishing to know more about Down Syndrome, has experienced parents ready to help new parents by answering their questions and referring them to services, promotes community awareness of Down Syndrome, has library facilities for members.
