Duke Of Edinburgh Award in Australia - NT

Acronym:
Duke's Award

The Duke's Award Program which provides young people the opportunity to do things they have always wanted to and receive recognition for their current efforts. The Program is for young people older than 14 and younger than 25, who want a more interesting and and satisfying life (not to mention satisfying). There are three levels to the Award. Bronze (14 years and over), Silver (15 years and over), Gold (16 years and over). Each level of the Award involves four sections - Skills, Adventurous Journeys expedition (participants will plan, organise and be a member of an independent group in a challenging environment), community service, and physical recreation. There are no separate streams for participants with a disability, as the flexibility of the Award, enables participants with a disability to complete the award to the best of their ability. One of the Darwin Schools (Henbury) use the program as a major part of their recreational programs. A large number of participants receive awards each year, as the award is adapted and suited to each disability to encourage programs.
