Minjungbal Recreation Area (South Tweed Heads, NSW)

Tourist attraction with some wheelchair access.North coast Aboriginal Bora , board walk over mangroves. Located at Kirkwood Road, South Tweed Heads. Visitor centre - ramped entrance, accessible action displays, drawings, artefacts, photographs and audio visual display. Bora ring - 50 m path from Centre, ramp accessible, track circles bora ring, interpretive signs. 'Walk on Water' track - 1.1 km sealed track, good gradients, 340 m accessible boardwalk over water through mangroves, then through eucalyptus forest, sedgeland and rainforest. Managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. A short paved and circular walk leads to the Tweed River and back to the Bora Ring. The Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre with Aboriginal museum and gift shop is open seven days a week. The centre provides picnic tables, electric barbecues and toilets for its visitors and is reached by turning into Kirkwood Road off the Pacific Highway at South Tweed Heads.
