NSW Sport and Recreation

The aims of NSW RAPID are to promote the participation of people with an intellectual disabilitity in sport and recreation activities.Further aims of the Association are to co-ordinate the services that currently provide activities, to develop an information and resource centre, and to advocate the sporting and recreational needs of people with an intellectual disability as a unified body to government. The Association provides a contact service for clients to join their chosen sport at an appropriate level (from beginners to elite), and disseminates information to members and member associations. The Association also provides an opportunity for members to participate in programs run by the NSW Sports Council for the accessible, and access to various scholarships, awards and grants. The Association also liaises with sporting bodies to help them incorporate people with an intellectual disability into their programs as required and assist with the selection of national teams in indoor cricket, basketball and mens netball.
