Softball ACT

Acronym:
ACTSA

Softball is a team sport for players of all ages, genders and abilities. It challenges participants to develop mental agility and concentration as well as physical skills. As a team sport it has a strong social dimension and it attracts players from all walks of life. While Softball is traditionally a summer sport it can be played all year round, indoors and outdoors.

Broadly speaking, the 2 main versions of Softball played around the world are fastpitch and slowpitch. Many modifications have been made to cater for adults and children who want to play competitively or recreationally, who have limited time or are unable to commit to a full season, who want to play in single-sex or mixed teams - there is a version of the game for everyone.

Softball programs have been developed to encourage participation by children, Indigenous players, people with physical or intellectual disabilities and older players. Masters Softball for people 35 years and over is growing in popularity as a competitive and recreational sport.
