Technical Aid to the Disabled (ACT)

Acronym:
TADACT

TADACT is a voluntary organisation dedicated to designing and making aids for people with disabilities when such aids are otherwise unavailable. Skilled volunteers donate their time to solving specific problems encountered by people with disabilities who are only asked to refund the cost of materials bought on their behalf plus other incidental expenses and a small administrative fee. Any person with a disability or their health adviser can ask for assistance. Action can be initiated by a telephone call Monday to Friday.Annual membership (non-technical) is $20 and technical volunteers pay a once only $10 fee for insurance cover. TADACT promotes its services by way of talks, exhibitions and other forms of publicity and also raises money to enable TADACT to be as self sufficient as possible.
