This University provides low cost courses of study for people in active retirement. There are no formal academic requirements for entry and no examinations. All tutors and other leaders are volunteers. Members are encouraged to participate. U3A Canberra offers 130 different courses, some of short duration, others going all years on a wide variety of subjects including arts, languages, literature, science, philosophy, computing and music. U3A Online, which is a separate U3A to U3A Canberra has now begun. This service is for third age people who are isolated either by permanent or temporary incapacity and those who live too far away from a conventional U3A campus.
