celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) on 3 December 2012

Dear Nican Member

International Day of People with Disability (3 December) is fast approaching, and we are seeking your help and asking you to share this message (via email, facebook, twitter or your newsletter) with your networks to encourage schools, community groups, businesses and organisations to organise an International Day event:

Do you want to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) on 3 December 2012?

Then register an event on the official IDPwD website www.idpwd.com.au and receive free promotional products to help you celebrate the day.

A Getting Involved Toolkit is available at www.idpwd.com.au/about/join-in-a-celebration/ to help you brainstorm, promote and organise your celebration and raise awareness of IDPwD.

The toolkit includes an A-Z list of ideas to help you celebrate IDPwD. Individuals, organisations, businesses and schools across Australia organise and host a wide variety of celebrations including:

  • Sporting events
  • Art exhibitions
  • Morning teas
  • Discos
  • Festivals
  • Fetes
  • Stalls handling out merchandise and many others

No event is too big or too small to celebrate IDPwD - it's all about breaking down disability barriers and celebrating abilities.

IDPwD is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and wellbeing. This year is the 20th anniversary of IDPwD.
